These little sinister demons are after your heart!

As the most intelligent and observant species on planet Earth, ironically, we humans understand very little about ourselves. And perhaps that is why nothing really piques our curiosity quite as much as knowing more about our zodiac signs. This is no different in Japan, and artists are always keen to breathe new life into these 12 zodiac signs using various approaches, such as reimagining them as anime-style schoolgirls or even designing sexy lingerie which embody their personalities.

Japanese Twitter user @maniani0122 has been making Internet waves with her depiction of the zodiac signs, setting netizens abuzz with her dark and haunting yet refreshingly cute illustrations. From the eerie Taurus to the cuddly Aquarius, these little terrors are ready to pluck your heartstrings with their childlike demeanor.

@maniani0122, whose specialty is drawing monsters, also creates a dizzying array of critters seemingly pulled straight out of a children’s storybook. Who would have thought the stuff of nightmares would be this adorable? She has sold intricately designed bookmarks and calendars featuring her beasts, and it seems that she’s even making a video game chocked full of the little creatures. The game’s progress seems to be going at a leisurely pace, though, so don’t get your hopes up about playing it that soon, though.

As a plus, this talented Japanese artist is also able to communicate rather well in English, responding to her English-speaking fans to the best of her ability. Here’s hoping that she’ll make plushy versions of her critter creations soon!
