Giant Attack on Titan coin bank will help you save up a colossal pile of change

As you may have noticed, there’s a lot of Attack on Titan stuff to spend your money on. Add in the fact that not one, but two theatrical features are coming this summer for the phenomenally popular franchise, and fans are probably feeling the need to economize and cut back on their discretionary expenditures to make room in their budget for more Titan-related ones.

And if you’re pinching your pennies, what better place to store them than in a gigantic 1:100 scale Colossal Titan coin bank?

Merchandiser Bandai has just unveiled the piece of monstrous monetary-minded merchandise. Being only one percent the original height of the creature, as designed by series creator Hajime Isayama, might lead you to think this is some kind of miniature knickknack, but this is the Colossal Titan we’re talking about here, the largest of the fleshless giants. His in-manga listed size of 60 meters means that even this scaled-down PVC version stands an intimidating 60 centimeters (23.6 inches) tall.

▼ Here it is towering over a 500-milliliter (16.9-ounce) water bottle, which we’re sure the Titan would prefer was filled with delicious people instead.

The lazy choice would have been to simply cut a coin slot into the top of his head. However, Bandai decided to incorporate a clever bit of Attack on Titan’s pseudo-science into the design, and both the coin slot and the section you remove to make a withdrawal are located at the base of the Colossal Titan’s neck.

▼ Most of the time, a deep strike here should kill the Titan, but we guess it would be kind of inconvenient if removing the panel caused the bank to dissolve, scattering the coins inside all over the floor.

Ironically, this tool of fiscal restraint doesn’t come cheap. It’s priced at 25,920 yen (US$207), and can be ordered here through the Premium Bandai store with delivery scheduled for September. Still, if you use it like you’re supposed to and fill it up with coins instead of spending them, the Colossal Titan bank is big enough that it should pay for itself in no time at all.
