Get Naked: Lip Stains That Look Like Your Actual Lip Color (But Better)

In case you haven’t noticed, it’s hot as balls outside and it’s taken a serious toll on our makeup game.

The moment you step out to grab groceries, train to work or walk the dog, you’re pretty much asking for your entire face to melt all the way down to your ankles.

Not cute, right?

Lip colors are usually the first to jump ship, so your best bet is to always opt for something that won’t be as noticeable when it magically vanishes off your face.

An MLBB (My Lips But Better) shade is always a good idea if you don’t want that tell-tale faded red lipstick look.

Especially in summer, try opting for a stain formula. It seriously stays put, while leaving just a hint of color.

Stains are also kiss-proof (in my experience, anyway) and that’s important for all those summer booty calls dates you have lined up.

Most importantly, they don’t fade after a gin and tonic — or, more realistically, four gin and tonics and a couple of Fireballs.

Check out our fave MLBB stains and get a little naked with us.

Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Marvelous Mauve, $14

The dusty rosy mauve shade is perfect on caramel-y brown skin tones, but can look a little too pink on darker ladies — you’ve been warned.

Armani, Lip Maestro in 501, $34

I have, like, 80 of these. Kidding, I have like three and use them interchangeably and plan on hoarding more over the coming months. This shade is the best nude-but-not-quite-nude color I’ve ever tried.

Too Faced, Melted Liquified Lipstick in Sugar, $21

I don’t get why these are called lipsticks. They don’t come in a traditional lipstick bullet, they have a glossier finish and they stay on your lips forever, unlike traditional lipsticks.

Revlon, Just Bitten Lip Stain in Victorian, $6

If you lean closer to the pink side of the MLBB spectrum, opt for this deep pinky-nude Revlon stain.

The best part is that these are very inexpensive, so you can get away with buying the entire line to fulfill your hoarding needs.

Palladio, Lip Stain in Orchid, $6

Even though this looks like it would be a bubblegum pink lip thing, it’s actually super sheer (which is kind of disappointing if you actually wanted cotton-candy-pink lips).

Bobbi Brown, Pot Rouge in Blushed Rose, $29

I don’t know what the f*ck a “blushed rose” is, but this color is super pretty on pale girls, so we’ll go with it.
