Science Says This One Simple Thing Actually Makes Us More Attractive

Do you like to maintain an air of mystery while spending time with someone you really like? Are you still single?

If you answered “yes” to both of those questions, I’ve got some news for you: You’re doing dating wrong.

According to a new study published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, people are likely to rate someone as more attractive if the person is easy to read.

For the study, researchers asked participants to look at pictures of six different women. Participants were asked to guess which emotions the women expressed, and they were eventually asked how attractive they found the women.

As it turns out, the whole poker face thing isn’t all that attractive. When it was easier for participants to read a woman’s emotion, they were more likely to find her attractive.

Although, before you beg your crush to watch “Titanic” with you in order to get a super attractive cry session in, consider the following. Playing a little hard to get isn’t always a bad thing. But, your love interest has to already be into you for the whole playing-hard-to-get thing to work, according to a 2014 study.

As you’ve probably suspected, acting too eager, interested or emotional can turn some people away. However, this recent study proves hiding all your emotions could do the same.

Well, one thing’s for sure. The dating world is pretty freaking hard to navigate.
