This Girl Was Ghosted By A Guy She Took To A Wedding After Dating For A Year

Boom, Ghosted

Ah, ghosting. It's the dating phenomenon that happens when people are too cowardly to actually end things with the people they've been seeing, so they choose to just… disappear instead.

Ghosters are idiots. But if you've ever been ghosted, know that you're not alone.

In this weekly column, I share a tale of a time a reader was ghosted (with accompanying screenshots) so you can see the last text that was sent or words that were uttered before someone decided to disappear forever. I present to you: Boom, Ghosted.

If you have your own submission, please send it over to boomghosted@elitedaily.com.

This week we have Alice*. She was ghosted after going to a wedding with the guy she had been seeing for almost a year:

Nick and I met through work.

We started seeing each other, hanging out multiple times a week, texting or calling all day. We went through some struggles, but all was well.

We weren’t super serious, but he got me a necklace for Christmas that said, “I love you to the moon and back” (LOL).

He got a new apartment with no more roommates in May, about nine months in, and something changed. We would make plans to hang out, and then, he would have an excuse.

He would not answer my texts or calls, but magically be on Facebook. I could tell that he was just not into me anymore (even though he kept assuring me he was), and yet, for some reason, he agreed to be my plus one at a wedding one year after we began seeing each other.

At this wedding, he was introduced to all my co-workers, friends and customers. A lot of these people meant something to me, and it was a big deal for him to be there.

After the wedding was the conversations you can see in these screen shots:

Just completely stopped replying to me instead of giving me enough respect to say he didn’t want to be with me.

So, what do you guys make of all this?

They were together a YEAR. A whole year! And he agreed to go to the wedding himself! It’s not like that just came out of nowhere. He could’ve said no.

But instead, he decided to attend the wedding, and then just, you know, never speak to her again. Like actually, WTF?!

The only logical explanation I can think of is something catastrophic happened at the wedding that really set him off. But even then, what could have been that bad?

Maybe the whole wedding thing made him terrified of commitment?

If you understand where he’s coming from, PLEASE enlighten me. And if you’ve ever been in her shoes, I’d love to hear from you, too!
