Gintoki tranforms into absolutely adorable Ginko for limited-edition Gintama figure
The anime series Gintama has been having a great season, starting off with a hilarious parody in which main character Gintoki re-enacted shamed Japanese politician Ryutaro Nonomura’s very public bawling session from last year. Then, mid-way through this season, there were a couple of genderbent episodes in which a member of the cast was suddenly transformed into members of the opposite sex: the cool and masculine Gintoki became the cute and busty Ginko!
To celebrate the fun of that mini-arc, Premium Bandai is selling 1,000 limited-edition figures of Ginko-chan and we can’t get over how adorable she is!
Though Gintoki was transformed into a girl for only three short episodes, the memories of him as a woman will live in our hearts forever, especially now that there is a figure that immortalizes her.
As she isn’t wearing her signature half-on, half-off kimono, she’s almost unrecognizable as the protagonist. Good thing this perky and loveable character carries her signature bokuto or bokken that has “Lake Toya” inscribed on it.
If you purchase one of these figures, you aren’t just getting the lovely Ginko, there is also a mini-sized version of Tenko (or Xko), the female version of Toshiro Hijikata from the Shinsengumi.
▼ Admittedly, not as adorable, but no less special
This limited-edition set can be pre-ordered from the Premium Bandai site for 13,333 yen (US$110.46). The presale will run from now until February 1, 2016 and only 1,000 figures are available for purchase, which will be sent out starting at the end of June 2016. This is definitely a must have for any Gintama fan and certainly for anyone who is looking to add a cutie to their figure collection.
