Sony ends shipments of PlayStation TV in Japan
Mini-console still available in the West.
The official Japanese website of Sony‘s PlayStation brand is listing that it is no longer shipping the PlayStation Vita TV (PlayStation TV in North America) product.
Sony released the PlayStation Vita TV in November 2013 for 9,954 yen (about US$82). The system allows users to play PlayStation Vita games on the television, download PlayStation Portable and PlayStation games, and access various video and web services. In addition, the system can connect remotely to the PlayStation 4 system, allowing for wireless play.
Sony introduced the system to the West in fall 2014, where it is known as simply the PlayStation TV. The system is still available for purchase in the West for US$99. Sony also offers a bundle starter pack for US$139 that includes an HDMI cable, a USB cable, a Dual Shock 3 controller, an 8GB memory card, and The Lego Movie Videogame.
