Peacocking peafowl poses prettily as patrons patiently pray to pee
The bird caught sight of its glorious self in the mirror and now there’s no chance of anyone else using the restroom.
It’s not every day that you see a peafowl checking itself out in the mirror, with its long, patterned tail trailing out beautifully from behind, making it look like it’s ready to sashay off to a night at an extravagant ball. At Tama Zoological Park in Tokyo, however, it’s exactly what one visitor found when they went to visit the men’s restroom on the grounds. Shocked by the sight, @kokosyo quickly snapped a couple of photos to share with the world on Twitter.

From a distance, the bird almost looks human, like a lady in a ball gown applying a few final makeup touches before heading off to an important event.
The peafowl was incredibly interested in itself, turning its head from side to side as if checking out its appearance.
With its large iridescent blue-and-green patterned train spreading out towards the entrance of the restroom, none of the patrons were keen to enter while the bird was inside. Thankfully, though, the bird refrained from trying to mate with its mirror image, which meant there were no flashy courtship displays like the one below.

According to staff, several of the colourful birds are kept on the grounds, all of which are free to roam around as they please. Most of the peacocks spend their days marking their territory, though, so if you do need to use that restroom, don’t be surprised if this one follows you in!
