Animate Cafe ready to serve Black Butler-inspired menu this February, including a black burger
The menu also includes delicious anime-themed desserts and an extensive selection of interesting drinks!
The long-running manga/amime series Black Butler released its first animated film adaptation on January 21 with Black Butler: Book of the Atlantis. To celebrate, Animate Cafe has planned a special menu for the month of February at two of its Tokyo locations! Fans of the series can enjoy entrees, desserts, and drinks inspired by the story and its characters.
The Undertaker Black Burger comes with a patty, slice of bacon, lettuce, and tomato on a black bun and is served with cheese sauce, potato wedges, ketchup, and a printed sweet wafer (monaka) for 1,080 yen (US$9.50).
Another fun entree to try is the Grell and Ronald-inspired chicken and tomato curry, topped with star-shaped cheese slices and served with green lettuce, a soy-based printed accent, and printed monaka sweet wafer for 920 yen.
For dessert, there’s gateau chocolate cake, a favorite of main character Ciel, served with tea-flavored ice cream, whipped cream, a dusting of powdered sugar, and a soy-based printed accent, for 700 yen. The gateau chocolate is a Valentine’s Day special, only available from February 1 to February 14.
From February 15 to February 27, there’s the Double Charles’ Elegant Tea Party plate with a small sampling of sweets, including an Earl grey-flavored scone, white roll cake, white chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and a printed monaka wafer for 700 yen.
Also for 700 yen is Elizabeth’s Sugary Time Parfait. For those with a major sweet-tooth to satisfy, this parfait contains mixed berries, custard cream, pie, vanilla and strawberry ice creams, corn flakes, strawberry sauce, marshmallows, raspberries, whipped cream, and flower-shaped sugar accents.
To quench your thirst there are a variety of drinks, each for 500 yen. The menu includes choices like a Darjeeling and Assam nut tea with ginger syrup, hot milk with honey, and a Way I Like It Rose-colored Drink DEATH”, which, despite its caution-provoking names sounds quite tasty. The concoction is made of rose hip tea with collagen, apple soda, an edible bell rose, whipped cream, and a glasses-shaped monaka wafer.
▼ For every 2,000 yen purchase from the food or cafe menu, diners will receive a special character-print coaster.
In addition to the Black Butler themed menu, there will also be a number of limited-edition items for sale during the promotion, from keychains and button badges, as shown above, to fastener charms and clear file folders.
The special Black Butler food and merchandise are only available for a limited time, from February 1 to February 27, at two Animate Cafe locations in the Tokyo area, so don’t miss it!
