Burn The Rule Book: 4 Reasons To Kiss Dating Guidelines Goodbye

With any type of game comes a particular set of rules. Rules are put in place to reach an end goal of winning. Without a structure in place, there would be no winner or loser.

Unfortunately, the act of dating has somehow become a game, one that’s developed its own set of universal, unwritten rules.

But why and how? Who wrote these rules, and why have they become ingrained in the dating game?

It’s time to burn the rule book, and forget whatever regulations you put on yourself within your dating life:

1. The Waiting Rule

“Should I call her? Should I text her? I’m supposed to wait a couple of days, right?”

“Is he going to call me? Is he going to text me? Should I text him tonight or wait until tomorrow?”

This is the most common internal conversation every guy or girl has with themselves after a first date. We question ourselves regarding whether or not we should reach out to the person that night, or if we are supposed to wait three days to make contact because “that’s the rule.”

You need to stop waiting.

If you had a good time with her and can’t wait to talk to her, then text her. Let her know you had an amazing night and can’t wait to see her again.

And, ladies, you don’t need to wait for him to text you or call you because “he’s the man,” and because you believe he should be the one to reach out to you first.

If you want to see him again, tell him.

He may have thought the date went well, but wasn’t entirely sure how much fun you had. Getting a simple, “I had fun tonight” text from you that same night (or next morning) will help ease his worries.

Stop waiting, and make your move.

2. The Kissing Rule

How many times have you heard the phrase, “You’re not supposed to kiss on the first date?” Somewhere, someone came up with this “kissing rule.”

For some reason, you’re supposed to wait for a moment past the first date to kiss someone. If you told your friend you kissed on the first date, his first response would most likely be, “Oh my god, you did?”

Why is that the first response?

The first response should be, “That’s great. Sounds like you had a great time.”

There shouldn’t be this sense of shock if you kiss someone on a first date. Remember, there’s no rule you have to abide by. If you are attracted to her and made a strong connection in a short period of time, then go in for the kiss.

Chances are, she’s waiting for you to kiss her too.

3. The Sex Rule

“You shouldn’t have sex until the third date.”

I’m sure you’ve heard this rule before at some point, or even told your roommate a time or two: “It’s only your second date. Keep it locked up.” This is another countdown that has somehow become a rule we feel shouldn’t be broken.

When we are dating someone, it’s as if there’s this invisible sex countdown clock, set to 72 hours. Only once you hear the alarm go off, are the sex gates open and you are allowed access.

You need to throw away that clock and get a new one.

4. The “I Love You” Rule

You know how much money every guy in any movie ever could have saved, if he had just told the girl he was dating he loved her, the moment he felt it?

Instead, he always waits until about five minutes before his girlfriend is about to board a flight to the Swiss Alps before realizing, “Oh wait, I think I love her.”

Why can’t a guy tell a girl he loves her the moment he feels it, even if it’s too soon? Why can’t the girl say I love you first? Maybe he’s waiting for her to say it.

Why does she have to wait until he’s ready?

When I started dating my current girlfriend, I fell in love with her within a couple of weeks of meeting her. It just happened one morning.

We woke up, I looked at her, she smiled and I just knew. As cheesy as it may sound, that’s honestly the moment I knew I loved her.

Something clicked. Something changed. Something felt different.

I knew she was the person and that was the smile I wanted to wake up to every morning for the rest of my life. In that moment, I wanted to go out and build her a house to show her how much I loved her, “The Notebook” status.

But did I? No.

There was this cloud of “it’s too soon to say I love you” raining over me. I felt if I said “I love you” too soon, I would be breaking all the rules.

Now, you may not fall in love as fast as I did. It may take longer, or it may be even faster.

Either way, you shouldn’t restrict yourself to what you think is right or acceptable in terms of dating. If you feel it, say it.

If you love her, tell her. If you love him, tell him.

Wouldn’t you rather know how he or she is feeling, sooner rather than later?

Dating is a journey, not a game. It’s an experience. It’s about discovering yourself.

It’s about discovering how you feel about another person. It’s about finding someone who enjoys eating Lucky Charms with you at midnight, while watching terrible reality television.

Throw that imaginary rule book out the window, because dating is not about winning or losing. It’s about finding happiness.

On the short side? Lucky you! Japanese women describe what they love about shorter men

Despite the fact that plenty of tall guys can be found walking around Japan these days, it’s still true that the national average height for an adult Japanese male is 170cm (5’5″), which, compared to the figures for countries like the US, UK and Australia (all around 177cm, or 5’10”) might seem a little on the shorter side for some.

However, it’s not all bad news for shorter guys looking to find love in Japan—many Japanese women actually really like shorter men, and here are some of the reasons they gave as to why they like their fellas fun-sized.

With the rise of dating sites, we’ve recently been able to gain access to a huge amount of data on what people of both sexes really want from a partner. In particular, it seems that shorter guys and taller ladies tend to get the short (no pun intended) end of the dating stick when it comes to receiving messages from users of the opposite sex. From an evolutionary standpoint, it does make some sense—women are (still) on some level looking for physically larger mates who can protect them from potential predators, and some guys may feel emasculated by dating a woman who towers over him in her stocking feet.

But if we get too caught up in quibbling over feet and inches, we can forget the most important thing: whether or not we like the person themselves! Luckily, many women in Japan actually like short guys, and with the national average height for women being 158cm (5’2″), even guys who are a little on the short side might find they’re actually taller than a lot of the ladies here.

An online survey conducted by Japanese site My Navi Woman asked 215 Japanese women between the ages of 22 and 34 what they like about shorter men. Here’s what some of the surveyees had to say!

“Personally, I find it adorable when shorter guys have a little bit of a complex about their height. Like when they say, ‘I know I’m not a tall guy, but…’ it just makes me melt! Especially since I don’t care one bit if they’re tall or not.”

“I find the way short men move to be quite appealing, and they’re cute like little animals!”

“They have this ‘little-brother’ quality that is just too cute!”

Hmm, so it seems that the Japanese propensity for loving cuteness in all things even extends to potential boyfriends! But still, we reckon some guys would prefer not to be seen as cute woodland animals or little brothers by the girls they’re dating just because they’re a few inches shorter than average. Let’s see what some of the women who are on the small side themselves had to say!

“I’m short myself, and most guys are taller than me, so it’s no big deal. Personally, I prefer it if he’s short like me so we can make eye contact easily.”

“Since I’m very short, all men seem tall to me. And I love movies and dramas where the female character is taller than the male character. I actually find guys way hotter when they’re short.”

“I’m short too, so I enjoy the feeling of equality with shorter guys. It’s like we’re on the same level.”

It makes sense to us that smaller ladies don’t always prefer craning their necks just to make eye contact with their fella. It just goes to show that taller isn’t always best!

▼ No matter the country, people come in different shapes and sizes, although the whole Japanese = short, westerner = tall gag is an easy one to make.

Finally, quite a few of the ladies polled said that height isn’t an issue when it comes to whether or not they find a man attractive. Instead, they claim that it really is what’s inside that counts, valuing a nice personality, gentlemanly demeanour, and confidence in one’s own masculinity more highly than an extra couple of inches:

“Even if he’s short, if he can show me he’s manly, I’ll be putty in his hands.”

“Once you get to know the guy inside, you don’t care about his height at all. “

“I don’t care if he’s short or whatever, as long as he’s a gentleman!”

So there you have it, fellas, if you want to have success dating lovely Japanese ladies, just be yourselves! After all, height is something that can’t ever be changed, so why not go for someone who appreciates you as you are?

Boy sends granny packing as she attempts to steal a kiss 【Video】

grannykisseskid-1

Many teenage boys daydream about some beautiful older woman planting her red lips on their own, but one young man in China found himself the recipient of unwanted advances recently, when a woman old enough to be his grandmother appeared to go in for a kiss while the two of them stood alone in an elevator.

Thankfully, the young man knew exactly how to respond.

The unsettling scene, apparently caught by CCTV cameras in a residential building elevator, went viral in mainland China recently, with many reacting in horror as this much older woman attempts to steal a kiss from a boy who looks to be no more than 11 or 12 years of age.

▼ Before the doors have even closed, the woman closes in on the boy, gently touching his chin and moving to plant a kiss on his lips.

Shocked, the boy recoils, only to be followed by the aggressive granny wanting another go. The boy was not about to let her try again, though, and shoves her across the elevator.

Neither the boy’s nor the woman’s identities have been confirmed, and the connection between the two is still unknown (some might argue that she is simply an overly affectionate family member, but her way of advancing on the boy seems to suggest otherwise). Hopefully this was all just a terrible misunderstanding and not what it seems. Otherwise, let’s hope that the relevant authorities were informed right away and that this woman will be keeping her lips to herself from now on.

Shoulder Pads To Chic: How To Modernize Your Mom’s 80s And 90s Clothes

I didn’t always think my mom was a style icon. After all, when I was a teenager, Juicy Couture pants and Ugg boots were the height of sophistication. To me, her old bedazzled costume jewelry was gaudy, her denim jackets were way out of style and her fringed boots were straight out of a Western.

But as the saying roughly goes, “what’s old becomes new again.” Like the stuff of Molly Ringwald’s wildest dreams, 80s and 90s trends are back with a vengeance. Lucky for me, my tough-as-nails Jewish mother kept all her old clothes stuffed in the basement for nearly 30 years because she knew one day her digs would find a home in my closet.

A few weeks ago, I decided to step into the walk-in closet we call a basement in hopes of finding some vintage items I could steal. (Hey, genuine leather, denim and suede don’t come cheap.) Present-day, you have to spend major bucks on well-made products. But 20 years ago, clothing was made with much better quality at cheaper costs.

Obviously, trends from decades past were put together in questionable ways. Women’s three piece suits were paired with Peter Pan-collar blouses, dresses were matched with heavy, long vests and nearly every jacket came with shoulder pads.

Modernizing your mother, grandmother or quirky aunt’s wardrobe might seem like a risky move. However, by strategically pairing vintage items with your own clothing, accessories and shoes, you can create a look that is on trend, original and unlike anything your basic H&M b*tch can throw together.

For the 411 on recycling old trends, take a look at some outfits I’ve put together from a mix of my Mama’s wardrobe and my own.

Deconstruct an 80s power suit so fierce it would make Nancy Reagan just say “yes.”

If your mom used to take her office-wear cues from Melanie Griffith in “Working Girl,” then she definitely had a closet stocked with power suits. While these bad boys usually came with matching pants, vests and blazers, pick one element and downplay it with simple, chic items from your wardrobe.

Here, I took an old, single-breasted jacket from the mid-80s, ripped the shoulder pads out (sorry, Mom!) and paired it with skinny jeans and simple loafers.

If you think Cookie Lyon started the faux fur trend, you don’t know Jack…ie Collins.

Faux fur was huge in the late 80s and early 90s. But be warned, modernizing this trend can be tricky. You want to match your faux fur item with monochromatic colors, such as black, white and beige.

On the other hand, make a statement with your accessories by choosing a bold necklace that show’s you’re not afraid to think outside the box.

Bring back a suede, fringed skirt from when the Clintons still cared about faithful marriages.

Let’s talk about the absolute biggest comebacks: suede and fringe. This skirt is from the 80s, but suede and fringe actually became popular in the 70s.

The biggest outfit pairings we saw at New York Fashion Week were fringed skirts and crop tops. So dig out that skirt you wouldn’t have been caught dead in during high school and make your friends drool over your beautiful, unique and — most importantly — free fringewear.

Zack Morris will kick Kelly to the curb when he sees your upgraded vintage denim.

If “A Different World” was any indication, denim was the sh*t in the 90s. Thankfully, my mom’s leftover denim skirts were made of actual denim, not the crappy stuff the kids stick in jeggings these days.

Long denim skirts can be old fashioned, so try to pair them with cute crop tops and tanks to up the sex appeal.

Throw on a slinky, minimalist 90s dress like you shopped in Cher’s laundry.

If the 90s did one thing right, it was dresses. Sexy, simple and chic, these slip-on numbers will do wonders for your attitude, not to mention your sex life.

Pair the dress with simple accessories and sexy high heels for a look that says, “come hither” without breaking your bank account.
