Resident Evil/Biohazard games get stage musical in September
Former Takarazuka actress Reon Yuzuki stars in musical of survival horror games.
The official website of CAPCOM‘s Resident Evil (Biohazard) survival horror game series announced on Wednesday that a stage musical adaptation has been green-lit. Former Takarazuka Revue actress Reon Yuzuki (seen below) stars in her first lead role in a musical.
The musical is titled Musical Biohazard: Voice of Gaia, and it contains elements of ballet and action. G2 (My Fair Lady, Wuthering Heights) is directing and writing the musical, which will run first in Tokyo’s Akasaka ACT Theater from September 30 to October 12, and then in Osaka’s Umeda Arts Theater from November 11 to 16. CAPCOM‘s Hiroyuki Kobayashi is overseeing the production. Tickets will be available to purchase at the end of June.
A non-musical Resident Evil stage play debuted last October.
The Resident Evil game series has shipped 65 million copies worldwide, and has also inspired a series of Hollywood live-action films as well as several manga series. The latest game, Resident Evil Zero HD, is a remake of the 2002 Resident Evil Zero GameCube game. It shipped for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC in January.
