Tokyo man arrested for underwear theft after instant, raging attraction to another man
Says victim was “a totally hot dude.”
On a recent Friday, Tomoya Ishii was walking through a train station in Tokyo’s Katsushika Ward when he spotted an attractive stranger. Given how many people live in Tokyo, that’s not such a shocking statistical abnormality, but Ishii’s reaction to finding some tasty eye candy was abnormal, in that he followed the object of his desire in order to steal the stranger’s underwear.
This 21-year-old Ishii tailed the target home, and once the stranger was inside and taking a bath, Ishii infiltrated the home and snatched no fewer than six articles of clothing, including at least one pair of the victim’s underwear. But while this might sound like another case of panty thieving in Japan, the stranger who caught Ishii’s eye wasn’t a schoolgirl, office lady, or any other female demographic that’s often fetishized in Japan, but another guy.
“When I saw him in the station, I immediately thought he was a totally hot dude,” says Ishii, who after stealing the 20-something man’s clothes, remained hidden in his home in hopes of secretly recording his naked body after he got out of the bath. However, Ishii’s voyeurism plans went awry when he was discovered by a male housemate of the victim, who subdued the underwear thief and aspiring peeping Tom until the police arrived and took him into custody.
During questioning, Ishii told investigators:
“He’s just the type of guy I like. I started fantasying about him, and got consumed in that, so I stole his underwear.”
Needless to say, no matter how strong an attraction you may feel to someone, breaking and entering, theft, and illegal recording of their naked form is wrong, and Ishii, who has admitted to the charges, will now be facing whatever punishment the courts decree. Hopefully his arrest will serve as a reminder to others looking to alleviate their raging lust by looking at hot guys and their underwear that there are better ways to go about it.
