Mother teaches son life-lesson with a hilariously devious trick
Every mother wants her children to grow up to be functional, well-rounded adults, right? It’s hard to get them in shape for that if you coddle them all the time, so sometimes you just have to throw them in the deep end of real-life and hope they can at least doggie-paddle to safety.
One Japanese mother may have been a little sick of pampering her teenager and decided to toughen him a bit by playing a dirty trick on him.
When Twitter user Koshi came home from school the other day, he found the house empty and a nice hand-written note from his mother.

▼ “Good work at school today. Just microwave some food. You can find it in the pot.”
In Japan, as in many other Asian countries, it’s typical for children to live at home until they are married. With that in mind, it’s not uncommon for kids to rely on their mothers to cook, clean and launder for them well into adulthood. Apparently, however, mothers don’t always want to cook for their older kids, and sometimes, instead, they want them to take care of themselves. Young Koshi here learned this the hard way.
Once his stomach started growling, he headed to the pot in the kitchen to see what his dear mother had prepared for him, but instead of home-cooking, he found only harsh reality.
▼ “Life’s not that sweet. Cook something yourself.”
Ouch. Wait until he’s hungry and then hit him where it hurts. Life sure isn’t that sweet anymore, thanks, Mom.
Japanese Twitter users ate this up and think Koshi’s mom is pretty awesome, in a devious way.
“That’s terrible lol.”
“Hello. Your mother is wonderful.”
“I’m going to try this on my own son!”
“This is the teaching of a good mother.”
Aside from her hilarious style of guidance, Koshi’s mom also has beautiful penmanship and surprised many by writing with a brush instead of a simple pen or pencil. What a cool lady!
▼ When Koshi’s mother heard that his original post was retweeted over 10,000 times, she said, “Huh, me? I’m pretty popular! Yay!”

▼ The mother behind the cruel joke.
We’re still kind of wondering what Koshi ended up eating for dinner that night though. Did he learn his lesson and actually cook something?!
