Today’s reason to poop in Japan.

Among the more colorful expressions in the Japanese language is “Me ni irete mo itakunai,” which literally translates to “Even if you put it in your eye, it doesn’t hurt.” It’s used to describe something that’s incredibly cute and endearing, and while it’s sort of an odd way to express that sentiment, there’s a certain logic to it, since whatever you’re talking about would have to be very precious to you if you could still maintain such amicable feelings towards it after a round of eye-insertion.

But now comes a question: Is this Japanese toilet paper cute enough to put in your butt?

Shizuoka Prefecture’s Hayashi Paper Company has just started selling its Yappari Neko ga Suki (“I Just Love Cats”) line of bathroom tissue. Not only does it feature a cute kitty on the wrapper, the paper itself is patterned with a track of pastel pink paw prints.

If you’re the kind of person who puts enough thought into your toilet paper selection to care about its graphic design, you probably also have certain softness standards, so you’ll be happy to know that Yappari Neko ga Suki, made from 100-percent recycled paper, is double-ply. Of course, if you’re a cat owner, you probably think your kitty is even cuter than the one shown on the wrapper above, which is why Hayashi Paper can also produce custom wrappers made with photos of your pet.

Domestic orders can be placed directly through Japanese online toilet paper specialist (yep, Japan has one of those) Banbix (links here for standard, one-photo, two-photo, and three-photo varieties). The standard roll is priced at 120 yen (US$1.16) and custom versions are just slightly more at 146 yen, although unlike the standard package, they require a minimum purchase of 50 rolls.

Oh, and should any of your less-than-crazy-about-cats houseguest say they’re weirded out because they feel like the cats are watching them poop, just let them know it would have been a lot more unnerving…

…if you’d put pictures of people on the rolls instead, since Hayashi Paper will let you do that too.
