Ghibli characters adorn these new military and embroidered jackets for the fashion-conscious fan

Characters and themes from Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and Porco Rosso adorn these stylish jackets.

This summer, wholesale company Benelic will be selling casual wear catering to older Ghibli fans, starting with embroidered and military jackets featuring characters and themes from beloved Studio Ghibli films, under a new brand series “GBL.” The GBL label aims to create clothes made of high-quality materials for adult Ghibli fans who enjoy fashion.

The first two styles will go on pre-sale starting July 14. Both will feature embroidered details on satiny rayon fabric. The Spirited Away “bathhouse” design includes the little stone statues from the movie on the front, and No Face standing in front of an intricately detailed image of the bathhouse on the back. The outer colors are blue and white, with a retro salmon-pink inner fabric.

The second embroidered design features characters from Princess Mononoke, including the wolf-god Moro on the front, wild boars along the sleeves led by the boar god, and the Shishigami Forest Spirit detailed on the back. This jacket comes in solid black, with the same salmon-pink inner fabric.

Both jackets come in sizes medium, large, or extra large for 29,800 yen (US$269), and they will start shipping out at the beginning of September.

The last style will be a vintage-style N1 deck jacket, with themes from the film Porco Rosso. It will be made of insulated and waterproofed cotton, and is available in either khaki or navy blue.

The Skull Pirates’ mark is on the front chest of the jacket, while “Mamma Aiuto” is stenciled across the back. This jacket comes in sizes 38, 40, and 42, for 35,000 yen. Pre-sale begins from mid-August, and jackets will be shipped at the beginning of October.

The jackets can be ordered off of the GBL website here, which will be accessible starting mid-July.

All of them are available in limited quantities, so you won’t want to miss out! After all, you’ll need to have one of these jackets to flaunt your fandom at the new Ghibli Park when it opens in the early 2020s.
