Music Station is well-known in Japan for its weekly music performances featuring new and popular artists from both Japan and overseas. The program recently entered its 30th year, which was celebrated with a special 10-hour show called Music Station Ultra Fest. The show featured numerous performers, from Momoiro Clover Z to Koda Kumi to X Japan, as well as fan favorite Hatsune Miku.

Inspired by the event, fantasy artist Shu Mizoguchi decided to tweet a pair of “photos” of Hatsune Miku at home watching herself perform on TV! Check out his CG models and more of his fabulous artwork below!

Not many TV shows can boast of running for 30 years, but Music Station recently celebrated that anniversary in style with a 10-hour-long program called Music Station Ultra Fest. With a wide variety of artist participating, it was certainly a major broadcast even in Japan, and we can’t imagine how many tuned in to see everyone from Sheena Ringo to Perfume performing their hits on TV. Even digital idol Hatsune Miku took part, which inspired fantasy artist Shu Mizoguchi to tweet these two “photos” of her watching the program go out!

▼ “Please calm down!”

▼ “Miku is standing by for Music Station.”

The tweets got a lot of attention online, as you can imagine. In addition to having a little fun with the hyperreal idol, they’re impressive for just how beautiful they are, especially if you’re a fan of digital art. It turns out the Hatsune Miku model was actually created by Shu himself, a professional illustrator who also does CG art and animation.

If you’re interested in seeing how the images above were made, here’s a pair of tweets explaining his tools.

“The software I’m using is Cinema 4D. I can make the images like the one from yesterday with the GI and physical rendering.”

“By the way, the background is a reproduction of my room that I made about five years ago when I was practicing modeling. I got obsessed with making stuff like the consoles. I have no idea what possessed me to focus on them so much!”

In case you’re wondering, yes, this model of Hatsune Miku does have a face! Here’s a tweet from the end of August in celebration of the idol’s birthday.

▼ “Happy eighth birthday, Miku! ∩(*・∀・*)∩ My Miku is 8 months old.”

And here is one of Shu’s illustrations, full of gorgeous, otherworldly color.

Shu has also produced a few videos starring his model. Here are two of them showing off his work.

▼ Released in July

▼ From March

Of course, Shu draws other subjects besides Hatsune Miku!

▼ An adorable dragon baby

▼ Another dragon illustration

▼ It turns out Shu has also produced a huge amount of Alice in Wonderland art.

Shu has released a number of products with his illustrations, including prints and calendars, but it seems that his biggest hits are jigsaw puzzles. You can find some of them on Amazon US like this 1,000-piece puzzle, this easier 300-piece puzzle, and another colorful 1,000 piece puzzle.

A gallery of Shu’s work can be seen here. The artist has published a number of art books as well, which can be found on Amazon Japan via the product page on his website.
