Canada’s biggest fan convention has amazing anime, sci-fi, and game cosplay【Photos】
Anime North cosplayers bring their “A” game proving you don’t have to be in Japan for your favorite characters to come to life!
There’s nothing more fun than seeing your favorite characters leave their 2-D pages or screens and appear before you. While there are plenty of conventions around the world that feature some stunning cosplay, if you’re looking for one north of the U.S. border, you’re probably en route to Toronto, Canada, where conveniently there’s an anime convention, Anime North, steps away from the international airport where you can see some of the latest in cosplay excellence.
When we hit up Anime North, Canada’s premier fan-run anime convention, it was a hot and humid weekend, so we were mighty pleased that we could find some stellar cosplay inside, away from the sun that was threatening to melt the costumes to the ground. We were lucky enough to catch one of the highlights of the weekend, Anime North’s masquerade, a staged costume showcase that features all sorts of costumers from novices to seasoned masters.
As the saying goes, on with the show!
▼ Rosa Farrell and Rydia from Final Fantasy IV
▼ Aldamon and Rhihimon from Digimon Frontier
▼ Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon
▼ Yuuko from xxxHolic
▼ A blade master from Monster Hunter
▼ Chimera from MÄR
▼ Pyramid Head from Silent Hill
▼ A hydralisk from StarCraft
▼ Deathpact Angel from Magic: the Gathering
▼ Happy Mask Salesman and the Skull Kid from Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask
▼ Johanna from Heroes of the Storm
▼ Zora Armor Link and a fusion of Link Between Worlds and Hyrule Warriors from the Legend of Zelda games
▼ Rao, Ninetails, and Waka from Okami
▼ Sleeping Beauty and Snow White
▼ Cinderella by Symphony and Silk Cosplay
▼ Studio Ghibli dress by Kate Bee Cosplay
These were only some of the amazing costumes that could be seen at this year’s Anime North. At such a huge convention with so many attendees there are bound to be some amazing cosplays that we missed, but that just means we’ll have to go back next year!
